The
application has a very strict approach to files and folders. This is needed to
be able to manage the user generated data and files (the Calligrams, Emojigrams and
Legograms) and the manage the settings.
The following folder tree is
required for the application:
The application automatically
creates this folder structure at the installation, and also adds several
required and supporting files into the different folders. The Data folder is
especilly important for using in the Booth mode, when customized colour images
are used to toggle for the Calligram colours.
The second
application folder is placed in the desktop, used to store the event generated data.
Although the location of this folder is arbitrary, the application creates an initial folder on
the desktop at installation: the desktop is almost always available for file
saving (no special admin rights are required), and conveniently shown for
easy access of its content.
The folder
trees on the left side of these
two screenshots show the main folders:
-
Libraries = here all the
emoji picture libraries must be located. This work the best when subfolders
are created in this main folder, one for each emoji library.
-
Projects = here you can
save the projects. projects are files that store a certain setting, which you
can reload a next time. Also the default project ('default.mpr') is found here, this file should never be
deleted, to avoid errors when you want to reset to
default.
-
Records = here all the user generated data is stored.
These locations can be changed by the admin of the event, as long as its
location is properly indicated in the 'Admin - Files and
folders'
tab.
-
Backup = all the snapshot
original pictures are stored in this folder.
-
Booth = the default hot folder, or
the folder that is listened to when a new snapshot has been made. All the
snapshots must be saved in this Booth folder. Some example images
are already added in this
folder. In case you wish start in Booth mode, you must first remove these
images again (or move them to a different
folder).
-
Store = all
the created Calligrams (and Legograms) are stored
in this folder.
-
Text = the text files
needed for calligram creation. Example files are pre-installed for easy
start.
-
Resources = here all the
application's resources are found.
-
Artwork = all the
pictures that are used in the Branding Station. These resources are used in
the Branding Station only.
-
Data =
the essential input
files of the application, as indicated in the 'Admin -
Files and folders' tab, like the text
file, the font-list file and the colour pictures. This is an application
critical folder. Also when in Booth mode the option to use images for the
Calligram colours is selected, these images will be used (.jpg, bmp, .jpeg
and .png types)
for the booth interface. For
that reason, this folder should never be empty or contain the wrong
files.
-
Examples = some typical
snapshot example pictures that we a.o. used to test the application. Here
also the initial snapshot
picture is stored which is shown after starting the application. Except for
the one pictures that is used at application start, this folder is not
critical.
-
Mail =
the mail files. In
this folder the required mail
files are found, which are required to properly define and send an e-mail
with the Calligram. This is an application critical folder.
-
Settings = an application folder that
is required to set the application's parameters. In this folder
the configuration files are stored. This is an application critical
folder.
The right side of the
screenshot above shows the saved Calligrams in the Store folder. As clearly
shown, the filename is derived from the date and moment in time when the
snapshot was taken, or when the tethered picture arrived in the hot
folder.
